Turkey Strengthens Economic, Industrial Ties with Nigeria

(MENAFN) Türkiye plans to deepen its collaboration with Nigeria in areas such as industry, trade, investment, and production, Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat said Tuesday.

Bolat made the remarks following a meeting with Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacir and Nigeria’s Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, John Owan Enoh.

The discussions were held under the chairmanship of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan as part of Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s official visit to Türkiye.

“We comprehensively discussed topics that will deepen our cooperation in the fields of industry, trade, investment and production,” Bolat said in a statement shared on the Turkish social media platform NSosyal.

During the visit, Türkiye and Nigeria signed a joint declaration to establish a Joint Economic and Trade Committee (JETCO), aimed at reinforcing institutional economic cooperation, along with a Memorandum of Understanding on Halal Quality Infrastructure.

“We believe that these steps will create new opportunities for the business communities of both countries,” Bolat added. He emphasized that, aligned with the $5 billion trade volume target set by the two presidents, efforts will continue to diversify trade, boost investment, and strengthen private-sector ties.

“Türkiye will continue its relations with Nigeria based on trust (and) a long-term and strategic partnership approach,” Bolat said.
